Incidentally, the colors on this scan turned out a little wonky... I'll try to rescan it later, but I'm too tired for now and I wanted to post this.
This card is somewhat mysterious and paradoxical, much like the wizard I've chosen to represent it. The card of sacrifice and letting go, of martyrdom and renunciation of past ways. This card symbolizes surrender, vulnerability, waiting for the right moment, and giving oneself up to servicing a higher cause. Who better to fit this card than Severus Snape, who turned away from the Death Eaters in spirit and devoted everything to honor his lost love. He put his personal safety in tremendous jeopardy to protect her son and avenge her death by spying for Albus Dumbledore and helping to bring about the fall of Voldemort. He did it for love and penance, not for recognition - in fact, he swore Dumbledore to secrecy, "never to reveal the best" in him. Only after his death did the truth about Snape's allegiance become known to the world. One can only hope that through his sacrifice, he found peace at the end.
